GACE Cam Debuts

By the time you receive this newsletter we hope to have our GACE Cam working.  We have mounted a camera to allow our membership to view the GACE aircraft on the ramp from the GACE Webpage.  While we hope all of us would remember to cancel a reservation made on our scheduler, sometimes we forget.  If you see the aircraft sitting idle more than ½ hour after a scheduled trip, it is yours to take.  If possible, please send and email to Rich Raine giving the details of your trip so that the scheduler can be updated to your specifics.  Incidentally, we all have to thank Mark Goodman for mounting the camera in a suitable position so that the aircraft can be properly viewed.  We had this system working in the office but were stymied as to how to mount the camera until Mark said, “enough” and went out and set everything up.

The Left Seat                         Al Klug

The club welcomes another new member. Louis Addessi. Lou is a long time aviator returning to the airways after a short hiatus. Make him feel at home when you see him.

We had another work party in March. The team consisted of Mike Stein, Tony Monaco and his lovely daughter Stephanie Monaco, Al Zadow, Chuck Calabrese, John Koch, John Costello and myself. The work consisted of moving equipment, more spackling & painting, cleaning floor tiles, etc. The club is indebted to all these people. One more thing. Tony Monaco mentioned that Stephanie is an upcoming aviatrix. I hope we see her name on the membership list soon. She’s already an asset to the club and she’ll make a fine pilot.

Ed Santiago prepared, mounted and framed an aviation chart of the United States for the club and then mounted it on the wall for us. It is where the old sectionals used to be and should catch your eye as you walk in the door.  When you see Ed, let him know what a fine job he did. Thanks, Ed.

The club has decided to take advantage of the upcoming air show as a fund raiser. More information will follow as it becomes available. The video camera is now in operation as I’m sure most of you know. (Check our web site) Also on the web site, you can now download the ground review and aircraft tests for the GACE annual.  Anybody interested in running for Vice President must notify the board at the April meeting if they didn’t already do so at the last general meeting. 2 members are already on the ballot. Voting will be at the general meeting in April. Term of office will be through December of this year.

1st plane wash of the year will be Saturday April 26 @ 9:00 AM.   Barbecue to follow.

Secretary’s Corner              Rich Raine

One of the tasks the board will accomplish is updating of the Procedure Manual.  Presently, we are distributing the last Procedure Manual that was updated in 1998.  Since then the Board has made a number of changes to the Manual, which are still not reflected, in the current document.  These include the ability to fly under the NY Class B area and the ability to land at unattended airports such as Bader Field in Atlantic City.  We have planned to have a Constitutional Convention whereby we can bring these documents into reality.  We would ask that members that have interests that should be incorporated into the current Procedure Manual contact any member of the Board and make these thoughts known.

Meetings

The Board of Directors meetings are on the second Monday of the month at 7:00PM.  All members are welcome; however, please check with the president first in order to get on the agenda.  General Membership meetings are the fourth Monday of the month at 7:00PM.

This month’s meeting is on Monday, April 28th.

Plane Wash

Please come out to the first Plane Wash on Saturday Morning.  A barbecue is planned afterwards.  These have always been fun events.  Meet your fellow members.  Talk with one of our flight instructors.  Afterwards perhaps you can find a partner or two to take the freshly washed aircraft for a flight.  See you there.
