Our Clubhouse with a new look As
Al describes in his message, if you haven’t been by the office recently you
have to see the fresh new look emerging.
It looks good enough to make you think you have walked into
Millionaire’s VIP pilot’s lounge. New
Paint, computer Monitors (thanks to Nick Salvato), a high speed DSL
computer connection and a newly tiled bathroom reflect the pride we have in
our club. The
Left Seat Al Klug At
the February board meeting, we accepted a new member. Michael Alberico. When you see “Mike” around the club, be sure to
extend a warm greeting. Also, in February, Rob Turano took his instrument instructor check ride. Rob is now
a CFI-I. Congratulations Rob. Tom Klemenko took a trip down to
Virginia, apparently to bond with his son. The boys participated in the Polar
Plunge at Virginia Beach. Activities for the Festival started at 10 AM and
the “PLUNGE” was at 2:30 PM. Water temp was 37°. Tom says he’s going back to
do it again next year. If anybody wants to join him, there are a few extra
seats in the Skylane. In
the last newsletter, we asked if anybody had a larger monitor they would be
willing to lend the club. I received an e-mail from Nick Salvato saying he had one and would be happy to loan it to
the club. It is hooked up and in use already and what a difference it makes.
Thanks, Nick. We
had our first work party of the year on Feb. 22. Ron Ruggiero and Mark
Goodman cleaned and re-grouted the walls in the bathroom. Charlie Raymond and John Koch spackled and started
painting the walls and John Costello
and I helped wherever we could. The work that was completed looks
“fantastic”. There is still more to be done though, so don’t be surprised if
you receive a call asking for help. At
the February general meeting, John
Vahey spoke to the members about “ditching” an airplane. Having recently
undergone training in New London, CT., John is well versed on the subject and
made a fine presentation. Some of the information can be applied not only to
flying, but also to driving. Well done, John, and “Thanks” once again. “Chuck” Calabrese spoke of the possibility that the club could use
an upcoming air show as a fundraiser.

The Left Seat (cont.) Al Klug The
show promoter, Steven Kirshenbaum, has agreed to speak at this months
meeting. He’ll be giving all the details and then we will decide if we want
to take advantage of his offer. The meeting is scheduled for March 24th and I
hope to see you all there. Congratulations
to Roy & Sue Mathews on the birth of their lovely new daughter.
Mother & child doing well. Secretary’s
